This new bungalow-style villa is the ideal
choice for a small family or group of friends
wanting to experience the real Spain – but with
home comforts such as English and German TV and
good supermarkets on hand. Located in the
exclusive Mazarron Country Golf club, with its
communal adults’ and children’s pools, tennis
courts, petanque pitch and restaurant, Mi
Refugio (My Refuge) is also ideal for the golf
enthusiast. Camposol golf is just five minutes’
away, while the world-famous La Manga is just 50
mins’ drive away, on the Mar Menor. Located on
the south east of the Iberian peninsular and
sandwiched between Alicante and the more
developed Costa Blanca to the north east - where
you can find water parks – the Costa Calida area
includes the Mar Menor, Europe's largest salt
water lagoon, with over 170 square kilometres of
shallow water. Surrounded by the districts of
San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Santiago de
la Ribera, Los Alcazares and La Manga and which
boasts a free open air spa, the coast line also
includes rugged, rocky sections, where there are
fabulous walking trails and little else to
disturb the seagulls and cicadas. Nearby, you
can also visits the ancient cities of Cartagena
and Murcia. Cartagena was a strategic
Mediterranean port for more than two thousand
years and the ancient fortifications that
surround it enclose numerous fine archaeological
remains. |

Michael
Cross, Glasgow: “I think this part of the
Spanish coastline is the most beautiful
I've visited in many trips to the country.
In many ways, it reminded me of what the
country was like 35 years ago; the towns
we saw were all charming, the people warm
and generous, and the beaches
spectacular.” |
